The foundations for these houses were laid last autumn, and I wondered just when someone was going to start on the building, but they have shot up in no time at all, showing one of the benefits of prefabricated housing.

Peab Seicon's 'twin towers' now have most of the balconies installed and glassed in, and I know for cetain that a couple of friends of mine have bought one of the flats.

This is the first house on the right on Liito-oravankatu (Plot 4), and is made of lightweight thermal blocks - sort of 'Lego-style'. It has attracted a lot of local interest, as it is such an unusual method.

This is a general shot a little further down the same road.

The last house on the right has had its covers off for a few weeks now, and reminds me more of a Mediterranean style home. Two people have told me that this is their favourite.

May 25th, 2008, and Liito-oravankatu now really looks like a street with asphalt laid and more of the houses looking almost finished.

On Lammassaari, the western island, the children from the 3rd Grade of Steiner School have been building this sheep-pen and lambing hut.
