HOUSING EXHIBITION - August 2007
August 25th, a rather grey morning, but I was tempted to take a few photos as I strolled between the houses.

This new sign on the side of the exhibition site office gives a good impression of how things will look in a year's time.

Now one can clearly see the under-seabed heating pipes ready to be connected to the heat exchanger.

The causeway to the island is to be replaced by some kind of pontoon bridge, and here is the first of the supports.

Drilling operations have now moved to the end of Liito-oravankatu for the next dozen or so pipes.

The pontoon raft used to feed the heating pipes back down the hole made by the drilling machine.

Here you can see the business end of the drilling machine, and one of the pipes it has just pulled back from under the reed-beds.

Majavankatu is now progressing at a much faster pace.
The playpark behind Suvilahti shops is now substantially ready, and has attracted large numbers of children.

This rather large collection of pictures was taken on Sunday 19th August, the first really sunny day for some time.

August 15th revealed further progress in the area behind the school, and also saw the erection of a sign showing how the whole area will look after another year.

The 2nd of August and a huge hole is in the process of being dug, some three metres deep, in order to extract the soft clay and mud, and replace it with rock to form a firm base for the roundabout close to the shopping centre.

Also close to the shops, this prefabricated building is rising up quickly on the plot next but one nearest to the square.

And here is the same house two days later.

And here it is on Sunday 5th, the very next day.

Further over to the north the first block of flats has begun to rise up.

A long shot of the same.

A long shot of Liito-oravankatu.

Some of the landscaping which has been slotted in between the plots.
