Here is an account and pictures from last year's special day.

I visited the Kvarken Boat Museum in Åminne (Malax district) on 'The Day of the Boat', a special day including presentations and stalls selling handicrafts. However, even without the extras the museum is well worth visiting, and has 75 examples of wooden boats from the time that the area was important for fishing and seal-hunting; plus 68 boat motors and many photos, pictures and charts. The exhibits (photos of them do not appear here, as it is best to visit) are housed in a variety of beautiful old wooden buildings . The museum aims to become the main exhibitor for seal-hunting artifacts, pictures, photos etc.

After you're done at the museum, the village and harbour of Åminne are as charming as you could wish. Camping, swimming, mini-golf and other facilities are on offer.
I have included a few pictures of the harbour.
