The last evidence of human summer activity is slowly being rained flat as Canada geese take up their rightful place on the beach. Although one of the mother geese kept a very watchful eye on me, they seemed remarkable unafraid (and blissfully unaware that they used to be the traditional English Christmas main course before turkey took over).
