5th July 2007 - Road Accident in Suvilahti
Thursday 5th July 2007
Two teenagers on a moped were injured in a collision with a van at the entrance to the Housing Exhibition site in Suvilahti at around 4 p.m. on this day.
According to witnesses, the boy and girl on the moped were travelling along the bicycle path from the Ice Rink direction, when they collided with a work van leaving the exhibition site. A police spokesman said that neither teenager had received life-threatening injuries, although the boy had a broken leg. Both had been wearing helmets. The windscreen of the van was smashed, and the moped received damage to the front forks and sump.
The emergency services arrived quickly and in full strength (two ambulances and a doctors' car, two police vehicles and a fire-engine).
For all you young people who think it's cool to ride without a helmet, that broken windscreen was probably caused by the rider's head!
